What are the advantages and disadvantages of the internet as a means of communication?


The Internet is a great means of communication worldwide. People use the Internet to do many things, for example, download music, play online games or chat to other people. That seems good, but sometimes, it can cause problems.

The advantages of the Internet are clear. The Internet compared to other forms of communication, is faster. We can search some information in websites from our homes, we can send emails and we can chat to many people. However, it could also be bad. In the first place, the Internet information, it sometimes isn’t reliable. In the second place, when you chat to someone, you don’t know the person at the other end of computer. It’s possible that someone cheatting you about his or her identity.

Actually, we do many things with the Internet. We can download music, films, TV series, software and we can play online games. It is all cheap. That seems very good, but often, this software, music, films and series have viruses that break our computers. Other disadvantage is that some people download music and films and then sell them. It’s a problem for the rich entertainment companies and their rich artists. If people download films and music, and they swap them with millions of other Internet users, nobody buys them.

As a conclusion, I believe that the Internet is a good and fast means of communication, but we should make good use of it. The Internet is very useful in our lifes.
