What are the advantages and disadvantages of the Internet as a means of communication? Discuss.

In the last fifteen years the Internet’s changed the communication in the world. Nowadays, everybody can find a piece of news at the moment it’s happened. The media goes very fast and we can’t stop them. Our society is getting used to this kind of tool that didn’t exist only some years ago.

On the positive side, I’d say that internet is the faster and the most useful instrument to acquire information about everything. For example, we can look for any kind of subject such as Literature, Art, Science, Technology, History, etc. On the negative side, some people can find how to make bombs or murder somebody, pornography, terrorism or racism.

Another important thing is that we can also download music, films and we can chat with people that live lots of miles away. Furthermore, Internet’s revolutionized the work too: today sending emails is essential. On the other hand, it is bad because we can lose our privacy.

All in all, I believe that Internet has more advantages than disadvantages if we know how to use it, but if we use it incorrectly, it can be very harmful. New technologies help to develop our society and are part of our lifestyles.
