A magical sporting moment.

On 1992 Barcelona celebrated its Olympic Games. People from all over the world came to watch them and take part in them. I wasn’t born yet, but I’ve heard a lot of them and I know that they were very important for the City of Barcelona.

Athletes from 169 countries played a lot of sports and people from Barcelona were very excited about the Games. There was a party every day in the streets of the city.

Spain won 13 golden medals, but the Union Team, which was formed by some countries of the ex-URSS, won 45 golden medals.
At the end of the games Cobi, the Olympic mascot of the games, flied away on a paper boat and Barcelona’s Olympic Games were told the best Olympic Games of the history.

A magical sporting moment - Laia F.

I lay awake. I had been preparing for the next day for a long time and now I couldn’t sleep. My team was playing the local champions at water polo in the final and I was the captain. I was feeling the pressure.
I turned over and remembered how I had learned to swim. My father had taught me. We would go to the local pool every day after school and my father used to show me what to do. I hadn’t liked the water first, but I soon got used to it. I learned quickly and joined the water polo team. I was their youngest member!
I quickly got used to scoring goals and being under pressure, but the next day was different. It was the biggest match of my life. I closed my eyes again and tried to get to sleep. “I never used to have problems sleeping”, I thought to myself. “But then again, I didn’t use to be the captain of the team”. I watched the clock change slowly and knew that it was going to be a long night.
The day arrived, and luckily all my nerves disappeared. I knew I could play a good match with all my team, but we had to take intelligent strategies. The match was really hard, but we finally won the competition! I knew we could do it, I was sure after all. Afterwards, we went to celebrate it to a restaurant and I could just say: “Thank you, dad!”

My name is Anne, I'm 28 years old and I athlete. I am in front of the line. A thousand things have gone through my head: "I'm on top of my career, but is the end, I'm too old." There are other athletes better prepared, younger and more beautiful.
People think that I haven’t got anything to do now I can go from here. No need to run. I run or not run?
Too late, all those doubts and are useless ... the gun has the sound of running! I ran as one, four hundred meters, one lap, eight hundred, two laps, and so on up to four thousand meters.

The gold, the gold was hanging from my neck. That feeling. Wonderful. I don’t retire, I retire on my own.

I do not want to continue, in a way I'll be happy with my life without my passion, running. But now it's time to rest and be another.

A magical sporting moment

I’m looking at a small trophy I have on my desk. It seems to be made of gold, but it isn’t. In fact it’s only yellow plastic. That trophy recognizes the Rubí F. S. team as the league champion. I was in that team that won the league. I still can remember the last match, where we won the league. It was on 2007, I think in May, but I can’t remember the exact date. I had to play the last match at Vacarisses. If we won or we draw, we would be the champions. Otherwise, we would lose the league. Before the match started, everybody was so nervous, but when the match began, the nerves disappeared.

The match started with many goal occasions for us, but we couldn’t score. Before the half-time we had the clearest occasions, but we failed again. The problem was that while we were complaining for missing the opportunities, they scored us with a counterattack. Just after their goal, the referee blew the whistle. It was half-time. In the changing room we were really sad and upset. I can’t remember what the coach told us. I was, as my friends, so sad to listen.

The second half started very differently than the first one. Vacarisses were the ones that had the occasions. We didn’t feel the legs. The league was escaping from us. When there were 30 seconds left, there was a penalty. If we scored that, we were the winners. Everybody was standing up. My friend shot…but the ball crashed against the post. My team and I felt as if there was no hope. Suddenly, after the ball crashed against the post, our goalkeeper appeared and shot the ball again. It seemed that the ball was going out, but it touched a boy and it went inside the goal. We were the champions! I felt very happy; maybe it was one of the best moments in my life. I think I won’t forget it.

It was summer when I decided I wanted to participate in a swimming race. I used to swim when I was younger but I wasn't quiet sure if I was ready enough to be in that competition. At the start, I was really nervous but when I told my friends I was going to participate there was no way back.

Soon I arrived to the pool, I dived in and felt that the water was cold but I moved my legs and arms as fast as I could. While I was swimming I noticed that my best friends were there...amongst the crowd. For a moment I thought I couldn't breath. Everybody was screaming and I was really focused on the race and I started to swim faster and faster.

As soon as I saw that I was going to be the first. I felt so excited. At the end I won a medal and I still keep it. Sice then I haven't been in any other race. But I really enjoyed that one.

The last year, I participated in a swimming competition. I had to compete against four girls. At first, I felt very nervous. If I could swim the length of two swimming pools quickly, I would win the cup.

In the first seconds, I swam very fast and I went the first, but after a moment I felt tired and two girls passed me. I was disappointed because I wanted to win.

Then, I looked at the face of the audience and I saw my family. They gave me courage to continue. Soon, I felt better and I started to swim very fast again. In few moments, I gain the girls.

Afterwards, I finished first. The audience screamed my name, the cup was already mine. Finally, I won with my willpower.

A MAGICAL SPORTING MOMENT

Sport is one of my biggest hobbies, makes me feel good and is healthy for people.
The sport is very important for me.
So I decided sign up in a tennis championship.
The event was on the 15th of July, so that I stil had a week to prepare myself.
At week I had a lot of nerves, because near de time of the event.

When the day came, everything was ready, at the start I felt scared and very nervous but people gave me their support to go out and play.
Everything was ready, so I made and effort to go out and play tennis, to the track with my tennis racket.

I was winning all the games and when I realized, I only had one game left to win the tennis event.
I was tired but I had to go on and win, because, the next game was the last to win the gold medal, “to the number of tennis event”.

As soon as, I could I went to the tennis court, at the moment the game was incredible, was eternal and unforgettable, because after two hours have been playing, I wont that game!

After a while, I still remember my magic moment in sport.

I remember that day as it was yesterday. It was about six years ago.
My cousin introduced me into the “athletics world” because he liked it very much. At first, I was not very excited, but then I thought it could be fun. Moreover, at that time I was not practising any sport, so I decided to try it.
The first days were really fun, and I met some people that today are good friends. After a while, I had my first competition. I was really nervous because I had never competed in an important race before.
Soon I felt better because my coach told me that there was no problem if I lost because I didn't experienced it before. As soon as I heard the gun shot, I started running like never before I did.
When I finished the race, I noticed that I was the winner. All people congratulated me and I felt really happy.
I still have the medal.

A magical sporting moment

I am very proud because of the huge effort I have made to be here now. The training I had to do was hard but getting what you want makes you think that it worth was it. I can say that winning a basketball medal has changed my life. At first, the match was a little bit relaxing but when the opponents scored points in the first ten minutes my team and I started to play seriously.

The match was harder than ever and all the members of the team kept on giving the best of themselves. I was very tired and I had missed some balls. Then, my coach asked me to leave the match for some minutes. Everybody was anxious and expecting a miracle because we were losing by eleven points.

As soon as I was on the game again I felt like I could do anything. My legs were running without control and my head was concentrated on the ball. Afterwards, thanks to my team we got points and when the bell rang we knew that we had won the match. At that moment, the crowd cheered us with energy.

It was a magic moment that I will not forget.

“A MAGICAL SPORTING MOMENT”

I still remember the day that I won the championship medal in swimming. I was the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona. I was only 15 years. At the start I was very nervous, but slowly I began to feel the support of the people, my family and friends.
A few minutes before the race I was very excited, but then I concentrated on winning these medal. As son as I entered the hall, I heard the cheering. At the moment, while I was thinking about winning, I saw all my opponents.
My right arm was hurting while the race, but I had to continued. The last 100 meters I felt that I couldn’t. Anymore, as I approached to the finish I felt better.
When I got the medal in front of everyone I felt the most fortunate person in the world.

I rembember it like it was yesterday. I was watching TV in my sofa with my father because it was the IAAF championsip in Osaka in 2007.
I was waiting for the 800 meters because Mayte Martínez ran that race.
When the race started, I thought that Mayte didn’t won any medal because she was the last one but the race was progressing and Mayte was moving foward rivals.
In the last part of the race Mayte always have a good sprint because she is a fast atlete.
She was the sixth and there was only 200 m. Mayte did a good sprint and she won the bronze of the race.
I was very pleased with that because I admire Mayte a lot. I think that Mayte is one of the best athletes that are in Spain. I think she deserved to win the gold.

MATCH IN ARGENTONA

Three years ago, I used to play in local basketball team. In this team I played for the left flank and my responsibility was shooting for afar, bring the ball from outside at the inside of the basket. And the other hand, when we had to defend, my responsibility was steal the ball from the opposing team and run to shoot.

In that league, there was a team of Argentona who they won in our pavilion. The day we had to go to their pavilion, it was very cold and we were very anxious.
The match started with a great rivalry and at half time the score was tied and we were very tired.
In the last part, the coach put me to play and the score was tied again. Then in the last movement of the other team they scored a point and they recovered the ball in our part of the pitch.

Then they were preparing to make a counter-attack and while they ran with the ball, I and a friend put us in front of he and we stole the ball. It was the last move of the match and my friend stole the ball while I ran to score. Finally, my friend passed me the ball and I scored. Just then, the referee blow the final of the match and all of my team came to congratulate me. In this moment I felt like Michael Jordan or Larry Bird in NBA match and that moment became my best memory from when I used to play basketball.

At the moment, the Barça football team is the best team in the world.
Barça has won six trophies this season. Firstly, Barcelona won “La copa del rey”. After that, they won “la Liga" and then “The champions league”.
In the fourth place they obtained “la supercopa of Spain”, fifthly “la supercopa of Europe” and the last but not least “la Copa de Clubs”.
These six trophies have been an incredible record in the history of the world of football of all the times.
I was very happy when Barça won the first three trophies.
Also I went to 'Canaletas' with a friend to celebrate the Champions League trophy. It was unbelieveable. Canaletas was full of people. It was really special.
When we arrived to Canaletas we were disconcerted because all the people were jumping, running around, singing, shouting... and we didn't know what to do.
But after a few minutes my friend and I started to sing the Barça's hymn. A group of boys joined us quickly. It was really fun!
But I never thought Barça could win the other three trophies. When they won them, I just couldn’t believe it. I was so happy!
I'm “culé” and I'm proud that blue and the red are my colours.
Furthermore, I feel these colours in my heart and I am being a part of Barça makes me feel part of the best team in the world.

The best football match ever seen

When I played the match I was 13. Before the match I was very nervous because we played against F.C Barcelona, who won the league that year, in the afternoon. When we arrived at the stadium the supporters were full.

The first few minutes of the match were very exciting. After a while F.C Barcelona scored two goals but we were not disappointed because our supporters never stopped to cheer us. As soon as the second half started, we scored one goal and they were frightened. We wanted to win the match and we believed we could do t, we were very motivated.

Then we scored the third goal and the match finished. We have won 2-3. We were very happy and self-satisfied. All the people congratulated us and at night we went to the disco to celebrate the victory. Although we were happy, we lost the final the next day.

Afterwards, when ever we remember that day we always smile

A NARRATIVE TEXT
At the moment I'm not very athletic, but there was a time when I used to compete in athletics races. My old school, Maristas, organized the Olympic Games with the other Maristas’s institutes of Catalonia every year in Montjuic. They organized prior tests annually to decide who was going to compete, I went all four years. My specialty was middle distance although one year I competed in relays. Three of the four years I won medal, but I remember one silver medal in particular.

I was 14 years and this year I had trained hard to win. At the start I was very quiet, but as soon as they told me I had to go to run, I started to get very nervous. While I trained on the track, I began to breathe deep and calm myself down and then I started running. When the race finished I thought I had won, but after a while, the judges said to me that another girl had passed me by a millisecond. I was furious.

Now I think that although I had not won, I’m proud of all the effort I made and of the fact that I won the silver medal, because now I don’t lift a finger even to go to school. I would like to have the sporting spirit, but over the years, doing sports is more and more demanding.

Yesterday I saw an important football match.
In this game Barça played against one team from Argentina. They played in Dubai.
As the football players entered, all the people in the stadium were nervous because the match was very important. The team, who won the match, would get the cup.

At the beginning of the match everything was very normal. But after a while the team from Argentina scored a goal.
Barça tried to score a goal, but nobody could score.

While the people thought that the match has finished, soon Pedro, a FCB player, equal to Argentina, and it happened one minute after the match finished.
This minute was very exciting. Later, in the extra time, Messi scored the goal with his chest.
And this goal was the victory of Barça and they won the cup of the world.
This cup had never won this team.

A magical sporting moment

I remember the first time I won a ballet trophy. I cannot believe that I did not make any mistake because I felt very nervous and nerves can make you do very silly mistakes in an important moment. And it does not matter if you have made a hard performance.
At the beginning of the competition, the jury looked at me and asked me to start when I was ready. Then I started to dance without thinking about the people who was looking at me. I was very focused on the music and my movements were as precise as possible.

While I was dancing none of the spectators spoke and I appreciated it because I would have lost the concentration. After five minutes, my tutu got broken but I went on with my exhibition.

Afterwards, my time was over and, for this reason, I ended my dance. The jury gave me some time to rest and as soon as I calmed down they told me that I had done a great job and all of them gave me a ten.
Therefore, I won the ballet trophy of the competition and I was really pleased at the end of the day.

A SPORTING EXPERIENCE

Some years ago, when I was eleven, I used to skate. I skated since I was three and I loved that sport. The skating competitions were different according to your level. The first three levels were called stars, “One Star”, “Two Star” and “Three Star”. The next level was called “Certificate”. This level wasn’t the most difficult, but it was very important to me.

At first, everything was fine. I wasn’t prepared for this competition but I accepted it. I was training very hard but one day I sprained my ankle while I was doing a pirouette. I had to rest for some weeks and the day of the competition I wasn’t prepared. Despite that, I went to the skating test. I was very nervous because I had trained a little. I did well the first pirouettes but then I fell. In skating, if you do something wrong, you can repeat it at the end of your show. When I finished my dance, I repeated the stunt, then, the jury gave me the mark. I had passed!

I was very happy and my trainer, my family and my friends were crying. I also began to cry and I was very excited because I couldn’t believe that I had passed. My trainer congratulated me and I felt very proud myself. That day was very important in my life, I will never forget it.
