The government is debating whether to ban smoking in all public places.
Today, there are many people who smoke. Personally, I think there are some public places where smoking should be banned but not all of them. This is the situation in my country: in some public places you can not smoke, but in some restaurants and bars you can do it. That depends to the owner, of course. However, this law will change next year.
I agree with the government’s law to ban smoking in some public places, for example, in museums and shopping centers. But it isn't necessary to prohibit it in all establishments. What’s more, if the government forbids smoking in all public places, people who smoke won’t go to those places.
On the other hand, I disagree with the government because they can not decide where smoking is allowed. Some bars and restaurants have enabled a smoking area and one for nonsmokers, for example. This is a good measure. People who smoke can go to these places and people who don't smoke can also go because the smoke can not bother them.
Finally, if the government really banned smoking in all public places, perhaps people would smoke less. But, in my opinion, it isn't necessary. Surely, many establishments would lose customers for that law.
